Project Break-Through Families, Mentors and Staff Offer Candid Testimony Volunteer mentors are the lifeblood of Project Break-Through (PBT), a Salvation Army program that helps low-income families make positive life changes.
These volunteers teach families about time and stress management, budgeting, job searching and other topics. The result: Participants reduce or eliminate their need for public assistance, acquire GED certificates or college degrees, find child care, strengthen family relationships and much more.
PBT works closely with Bridge Builders, a mentoring organization serving children of incarcerated parents.
Click to read testimonies from Lavina, PBT participant; her mentor, Cheryl; and Lynnette, PBT social worker.
